Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar is looking forward to witnessing India’s performances in the upcoming edition of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. Meanwhile, he reserved the highest respect for Indian captain Rohit Sharma by calling him a dangerous batsman.
He further expects the veteran Indian cricketer to play the accumulator role before accelerating the scoreboard with his fearless brand of cricket. Rohit Sharma attained a meteoric rise in white-ball cricket ever since he opened the innings for India.
Since 2013, he opened the innings for India on a regular basis and deservedly cemented his spot in the Indian cricket team. It’s been a decade since he thrived in his favourite batting position and notably, he is one of the six Indians to have completed 10,000 runs in One-Day Internationals.

Rohit Sharma is one of the key players to watch out for in the upcoming marquee event. Let’s not forget the fact that Rohit Sharma finished the 2019 World Cup as the leading run-scorer as he piled up 648 runs at a spectacular batting average of 81.
It is worth noting that he is the only cricketer to have scored five centuries in a single edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup tournament, which is a fabulous record. He further added that if Rohit Sharma can play the accumulator role, then India will head towards posting the big total.
“I feel the one of an accumulator (what role should he play?). He is someone who has had phenomenal success as an ODI player. And many times that he has scored his hundred, it’s around the 30th over. All those 3 double hundreds that we speak of and rave of so much, the acceleration came toward the last 10-12 overs where he just toys with the bowling. So a dangerous Rohit Sharma, if he gets to that 35-over mark, then India is assured of a score of around 350. If he sticks to that sort of template,” former India’s batting coach Sanjay Bangar told Star Sports in reply to a question from India Today.
