Pakistan national cricket team led by Babar Azam kick-started their World Cup 2023 campaign with back-to-back wins over the likes of the Netherlands and Sri Lanka respectively. Everything was going fine for them until they locked horns with Team India and ended up succumbing to the hosts’ pressure in Ahmedabad.
After surrendering at the hands of India, Pakistan lost to Australia and Afghanistan, losing a hat-trick of games, which dented the confidence levels of the Pakistan players. Pakistan hit a new low after their shocking defeat to Afghanistan in Chennai recently. They batted pretty well but failed to deliver the goods with the ball.
The Green Shirts could not crack the code in the middle overs as Afghanistan eventually chased down the target and won the game by eight wickets. After the game, Pakistan legend, Mohammad Yousuf claimed that Pakistan captain Babar Azam shed tears after the defeat to Afghanistan.
It’s not only Babar Azam’s fault: Mohammad Yousuf
The former Pakistani cricketer said that he heard Babar Azam shouldn’t be the only one taking responsibility for the defeat as the entire team including the management was involved in the defeat.
“I heard Babar cried after the defeat against Afghanistan last night. It’s not only Babar’s fault, the entire team and management is involved. We are with Babar in this tough time and the whole nation is with him,” Yousuf said while speaking on a Pakistani TV show.
Babar Azam said that he was hurt after the defeat to Afghanistan. He further added that the team weren’t up to the mark in terms of bowling as they managed to take only two wickets. “All credit to Afghanistan the way they played in all three departments. That’s why they won. We are not playing good cricket in bowling and fielding,” Babar Azam said after the match.
