The secretary of the board of control for cricket in India, Jay Shah, confirms that Mohammed Shami is going to miss the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The star fast bowler of the Indian cricket team, Mohammed Shami, is currently recovering from his ankle injury and is going to miss the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League. It is also reported that the speedster is targeting a comeback for team India through the test series against Bangladesh.
Shami, who played amazingly in the ODI World Cup 2023, has been out of action after the World Cup. Recently, he went to the United Kingdom to undergo surgery on his ankle injury. Now, the fast bowler continues to recover from his Achilles tendon. The Indian cricket team is going to play a series against Bangladesh in September which is when Mohammed Shami is most likely to make his comeback.

Jay Shah said, “Shami’s surgery is done, and now he is back in India. Shami is going to return, most likely for the home series against Bangladesh.” Jay Shah also gave an update about KL Rahul as he said that “KL Rahul needed an injection as he has also started rehab and is currently present in NCA.”
Shami not only missed the Indian tour of South Africa, but he has also missed the 5-match test series against the England cricket team, and now, after the surgery, he needs a long time to recover, because of which he is also going to miss the 2024 season of Indian Premier League.
In fact, Shami is not going to be fit in time for ICC T20 World Cup 2024. As a result, the highest Wicket taker from team India of ODI World Cup 2023 is going to make his comeback in September. The men in blue are going to face the neighbours for 2 match test series and three T20 International matches.
The Indian Cricket Team has already made it clear that the return of Shami won’t be rushed. As a result, Mohammed Shami now has around six months to recover before hitting the field once again.
On the other hand, KL Rahul missed the last 4 test matches of the five-match test series against England because of pain in his right quadriceps. He is most likely to turn up for his IPL franchise, Lucknow Supergiants, in the upcoming season of IPL, as he has undergone treatment in London. However, Rahul is still waiting for clearance to join Supergiants.
