On the potential move of Rohit Sharma from Mumbai Indians to Chennai Super Kings after Mumbai Indians decided to take captaincy off him and hand it to Hardik Pandya, Ambati Rayudu gave his thoughts. On Monday, the former player of Mumbai Indians, Rayudu, sent the internet cricket fraternity into a meltdown when he wished to see Rohit move to CSK to enjoy the last phase of his IPL career. Rayudu backed Rohit Sharma to play for another 5-6 years, but in a yellow jersey, something which no one could have even thought about until a few months ago.
Rohit has been the heart of the success of Mumbai Indians over the last 11 seasons. Beside the five IPL Titles that MI had won till now Rohit Sharma had also backed players like hardik and Bumrah when they were new and young. But as the time passed the franchise made progress and now the management of Mumbai Indians think that it is the right time to pass on the responsibility from Rohit to Hardik Pandya and bring a new era to the team.
But with Hardik being the new captain of the team, noise has grown around the future of Rohit. He is the example of once an MI, always an MI, but given the Instagram activity of his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, and the fact that Rohit and Hardik are yet to be seen together within the MI camp or during practice adds a new dynamic. Only Rohit knows whether he will make this move or not. But Rayudu once again reminded me that the door remains open if both parties agree.

Rayudu said it was his wish or opinion. He never said that he would play at Chennai Super Kings. It is up to IPL franchise CSK and Rohit but at the end of the day, it’s pretty easy to go from Mumbai to CSK. Former off-spinner of team India, Harbhajan Singh did it; I have done it, so the transition is quite smooth, and CSK is a great team to play for. Rayudu also said that he is sure Rohit will have a great time in the last phase of his career if he does make the jump.”
Both Rayudu and Harbhajan Singh aren’t the only players to have made the switch from MI to CSK. In fact, the first-ever to do it was Dwayne Bravo, who, after spending two seasons with Mumbai ahead of IPL 2010, joined CSK and went on to become the big superstar after MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina.
Two more players who jumped from MI to CSK are Karn Sharma and Dwayne Smith and even though they didn’t attain the same success, it showed that swapping the blue with yellow is easier than it seems. Of course, the fan rivalry between MI and CSK is unusual, but when it comes to players, there has always been a healthy relationship between the two franchises.
