During the Indian Premier League season 2024 match between the Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans in Jaipur on Wednesday, Shubman Gill was a man of many emotions. The youngest captain of the 17th edition of the tournament was quite angry during the match. He lost his cool a number of times, firstly when the innings of the Rajasthan Royals were coming to an end and then a second time when he was out stumped for 77 after charging down the track to Chahal.
The first incident happened in the last ball of the 17th over of the innings of the Rajasthan Royals. The first bowler of the Gujarat Titans was Mohit Sharma. The first bowler for the Gujarat Titans Mohit Sharma bowled a slower delivery wide outside the off-stump. The captain of the Rajasthan Royals, Sanju Samson, swung at it but only caught air. Vinod Seshan, who was the on-field umpire, signaled a wide, but the Gujarat Titans decided to review it.
In the review, it was clearly seen that Samson had moved a bit, which means that the guidelines for wide should also be changed. The third umpire, Anantha Padmanabhan, took this into consideration and said the ball was not wider than the initial moment of Samson. He asked the umpire to stay with his non-wide call. But the problem was that the on-field umpire signaled wide. As confusion was increasing, he again asked for a replay and then instructed the on-field umpire to stay with a wide call.

Shubman Gill was very angry when the third umpire flipped his decision as he was seen having an animated chat with umpire Seshan, asking for the reason behind the change of decision. He only went back to his fielding position after the umpire requested that he calm down.
Rajasthan Royals put up a good show with the bat while riding on half centuries from Riyan Parag and Sanju Samson, who had scored 68 and 76 runs, respectively, and helped their team post a target of 196 runs at the loss of 3 wickets after being asked to bat first.
