As the Mumbai Indians are heading toward a sure-shot exit from the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League, fans want the franchise to rest key players like Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma ahead of the T20 World Cup. The likes of Rohit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Surya Kumar Yadav are expected to play a major role for Team India at the T20 World Cup, and with the campaign of the Mumbai Indians all but over, they are placed last on the table with only 6 points from 11 matches. It makes little sense for them to keep their key players going unless the players decide to give themselves more game time.
The first batch of players, including the eliminated bunch, are going to leave for the USA on my 24th, and it is only a matter of time before some of the star players of team India of the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore are going to board that flight. This is the reason, with only 3 games remaining, resting Jasprit Bumrah, especially at this point, could be a win-win situation.
However, the thought process of fans is currently not in alignment with the think tank of the Mumbai Indians, which revealed Naman Dhir as the all-rounder of Mi at a press conference before the match of his team against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday.
He said, “Nothing like that is happening for now and there has been no discussion about this, but at the end of the day, the management of the team is going to make the final decision.”
A major reason why Mumbai Indians and Bumrah himself would be eagles to carry on is the fact that the first bowler of team India is tied in the race work Purple Cap with 17 wickets. Bumrah is leveled with Harshal Patel from Punjab Kings, all though both franchises are going to be on their way out of the season. This is even though Bumrah has mostly not opened the bowling for Mumbai Indians. Except for a couple of games where he was smashed for runs, Bumrah personally has had a pretty good season in the Indian Premier League.
