As India knocks on the doors of another important Test coming up against the might of Australia, expect all the forces coming together that will see two teams going head on against each other. In a crucial addition to the Indian squad, Shreyas Iyer will be returning to the side after completing his rehab that started post an injury.
BCCI issued a statement, adding, “Shreyas Iyer has successfully completed his rehab at the National Cricket Academy following his back injury and has been cleared by the BCCI Medical Team.”
It further stated, “Shreyas will join the squad in New Delhi ahead of the second Test of the Mastercard Australia tour of India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.”
Shreyas Iyer has been out of action for over a month now but his addition may see a quick shuffle in the Indian ranks that will probably flag an exchange between Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas, considering the blistering form that he went out with.
2022 saw Iyer proliferating in the longer format of the games wherein India’s tryout with Suryakumar Yadav in ODIs and Tests somehow has been a challenge as SKY hasn’t really hit the stride in the longer games like the way he has scorched the T20Is.
Shreyas Iyer has so far been an integral part of the ODIs and the Tests and the KKR skipper has somehow proven himself to be a vital cog in the Indian plans. However, he is even more dangerous on the Indian soil considering his blistering arsenal from which he pulls out strokes with consummate ease.
So far from the 7 Tests, Iyer has amassed 624 runs and his outings against Bangladesh was also swashbuckling as he managed to smash 80 runs in both the Tests. His 71-run stand with Ashwin for the eighth wicket in the second Test saw India script a remarkable victory.
