Ravi Shastri and Ajinkya Rahane: In recent times with the glitz and glam of T20 cricket, there were a few names that were completely lost in translation. Unheralded monikers have come forth and usurped the limelight but then names like that of Ajinkya Rahane have always been cast aside because, at the end of the day when you are a seasoned Test cricketer, your ability to play T20 cricket is limited.
The Chennai Super Kings registered remarkable victories over the likes of Lucknow Super Giants and the Mumbai Indians. In the game against the Mumbai Indians, Ajinkya Rahane hammered a storm like none other as the Mumbai Indians were caught in the eye of it and by the time he was done with the carnage of the seasoned Indian batter who has somehow fallen out of favour in recent times with BCCI, brought out the craziest shots in the centre and left the five-times reeling in agony.
This is how Ajinkya Rahane slew Mumbai Indians emphatically
Ajinkya Rahane was compelled into the CSK set-up after Ben Stokes had to be dropped with a finger injury while Moeen Ali was also sidelined because he was unwell. Chasing a mammoth total of 158 runs at the Wankhede Stadium, Rahane hammered 61 from just 27 balls as he clobbered 7 fours and 3 sixes.

The Indian batter hasn’t been one of the most prolific batters in the shortest format of the game but the way he blew away the Mumbai Indians, was nothing short of a cricketing spectacle. Former Indian head coach, Ravi Shastri, who worked very closely with the Indians was absolutely delighted at the kind of performance that was put up by the erstwhile Indian vice-captain who conquered the Australians in the latter’s backyard.
This is what Ravi had to say about Ajinkya Rahane
Shastri told ESPNCricinfo, “I loved Ajinkya Rahane’s innings. He was our captain in Australia, where I saw one of the greatest overseas hundreds by an Indian player. That will go right up with the very best, simply because of where India was at the start of the innings. He had taken over as captain, we were 36 all-out. On Boxing Day , to play like that, was fantastic.”
