It was uncertain whether or not England’s pacer Ollie Robinson would be able to play in the next Ashes 2023 because of an injury to his left ankle. It has now been confirmed by a scan that the pacer did not sustain any serious injuries and is expected to participate in both the next one-off Test against Ireland and the upcoming five-match Test series against Australia.
Notably, the 29-year-old was playing for Sussex against Glamorgan in the County Championship when he felt some soreness in his ankle. He had been experiencing pain. On Sunday, May 21 he was seen on crutches, which caused quite a stir in the cricketing community. Even though he was wearing protective gear, including boots, the cricketer was nonetheless injured.
Meanwhile, the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed the news, saying the pacer will be playing in the next match on June 1 against Ireland.

However, Robinson’s stepfather and Sussex’s head coach, Paul Farbrace, claims that his stepson only has discomfort while walking, not jogging. On the bright side, he should be OK in a short amount of time and should be able to participate in the next Test match against Ireland. Without star pacer Jofra Archer, Ollie will be a crucial member of the starting eleven. James Anderson, an experienced pacer for England, reportedly sits out the Ireland game to save his energy for the next Ashes series. England’s bowling assault against its neighbour would be led by Ollie and Stuart Broad in such an instance.
However, Ben Stokes’s participation is also in question. A knee injury the all-rounder sustained during IPL 2023 has prevented him from playing in any matches for Chennai Super Kings. According to reports, he is now healthy, but like Anderson, the England red-ball captain may decide to sit out the match against Ireland to preserve his fitness for the main event.
