On Friday, IPL season 2024 is going to get started, and one of the new IPL franchises, the Gujarat Titans, have bought in BR Sharath as a replacement for Robin Minz, whereas the Rajasthan Royals have acquired Tanush Kotian, who is the Mumbai Ranji winner. He is going to take the place of Adam Zampa in the squad. Last year, in the auction, the Young Wicketkeeper and batsman Minz were purchased by GT for an amount of ₹3.60 crore. Gujarat even had to battle it out with the Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and SunRisers Hyderabad before putting in the winning bid for Minz. He was going to be the first tribal player to play in the Indian Premier League.
But unfortunately, earlier this month, Minz suffered a bike accident. GT has acquired a replacement for Minz.
Sharath, who is a wicketkeeper and batter, has represented Karnataka in domestic cricket. He has played in 28 T20s, along with 20 first-class matches and 43 List A games. He has smashed 328 runs in T20. He is going to join GT for his base price of ₹20 lakhs.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals retained Adam Zampa ahead of the auction last year. But on Thursday, his manager confirmed to ESPNcricinfo that he would not be able to participate in IPL season 2024 due to personal reasons. Zampa made six appearances in IPL season 2023, where he took eight wickets at 23.50 with an economy rate of 8.54, which included figures of 3/22 in a home victory against Chennai Super Kings.
Zampa has previously played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Rising Pune Supergiant. He was an important player for the Australian cricket team in their 2023 ODI World Cup-winning run in India. Ahead of this year’s T20 World Cup, he will be looking to maintain his fitness.
Adam Zampa has been replaced by Tanush Kotian, who played a major role in Mumbai’s 42nd Ranji Trophy title campaign. He has represented Mumbai in around 23 T20s, 26 First Class, and 19 List A fixtures. He has joined the Rajasthan Royals for his base price of ₹20 lakh.
