Keeping aside the rivalry that Virat and Babar has forged in the 22 yards, it is needless to say that the two also shares a benign spirit, may it be off the pitch or on it as well. The last three years saw what Virat Kohli went through and the runs were very hard to come by.
Despite getting off to uproarious starts, the former Indian captain failed to capitalize on them as was soon stumbling and staggering across all formats of the sport. Captaincy or not, he simply couldn’t get his momentum rolling.
Many cricketers across the globe stood by him, underlining that it was just a temporary phase and it should pass. Talking about the cricketers, one of them was Pakistani stalwart, Babar Azam who posted a message saying that the bad phase of Virat will pass. He received flak for the same from his fellow country fans but a lot of people appreciated the move too.
Now that Virat is back to his full swing, Babar chose to open up why he made the remark for Virat Kohli and he was absolutely unapologetic about the same. He said, “As a sportsperson, anyone can go through such a time.”
He further added, “At that time I thought maybe if I tweet it might give someone help and confidence. See, as a player, you try to back every sportsman in a difficult time. It is in difficult times when you get to know what you are thinking about others. At that time, I thought I should have done that and maybe something positive will come out of it. Something which can be a plus point.”
Since his return to form, Virat has been absolutely unstoppable, rocking the shores of Asia and the world in his own emphatic fashion, call it his brand of justice and carnage, leading the line for India.
