Chetan Sharma Resigns: In an absolute shocker a couple of days back, Chetan Sharma, India’s chief selector dropped a handful of bombs announcing the most unexpected and unproven theories that dragged Indian cricketers into disrepute. Even albeit all of the allegations fizzling away to dust, the Indian cricketers and the top brass were not just happy with the former chief selector but also expressed grief about the same.
In a sting operation aired by Zee Media on 14th of February, Chetan Sharma aired crucial details of the Indian cricket team without proper background. Even albeit, Chetan was not asked to render his resignation, yet it was needless to say that Jay Shah, the secretary of BCCI happily accepted it.
A BCCI source revealed the moods in the top brass after the entire fiasco, adding, “Coach Rahul Dravid, captains Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya have completely lost faith in him. He couldn’t have possibly sat across the table along with them for selection committee meetings as he had lost all respect. He paid the price for being a big mouth.”
Chetan’s allegations included that India’s players would be taking injections to get fit and then participate in the matches as they were also performance enhancers. He also revealed that he was at crossroads with the apex cricketing authority of India regarding the return stamp of Jasprit Bumrah.
He also highlighted that the relationship between Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli was strained and it was more of an ego battle, a result of which was significant to none, including the Indian cricketers. He and his entire selection committee was earlier sacked for India’s tragic exit from the T20 World Cup and post the application once again being opened up, he reapplied and bagged the job, once again as the vanguard of the selection board.
