Rohit Sharma and company will take the centre stage again as they await Australia for the grand finale of the ongoing Test series that will have to be secured by India if they are to play in the World Test Championship finale. They are currently on the cusp of the points table where they can either sail hammer and tongs to the second consecutive finale or crash out of it.
However, the man responsible for this state from India’s smooth sailing, Nathan Lyon was highlyu praised by a lot of pundits for his perfect use of the Indian conditions. Lyon claimed 11 wickets in the match, leaving India crumbling and they will need a heroic turnaround to flip things in their favour.
Australian spin-bowling coach, Daniel Vettori said, “Ever since I’ve started watching Lyon bowl I’ve marveled at him. As a fellow finger-spinner who can’t do what he did, there’s always that element of his ability to bowl that ball which is so impressive. We saw him at his absolute best in this Test.”
He further added, “If we look at Lyon’s stellar show in India, he has so far taken 53 wickets, which is currently the best ever by an Aussie bowler and second-best by any visiting bowler. DL Underwood of England has 54 scalps on Indian soil.”
As India try to take heart from the tournament so far, the best possible option will be nothing short of taking the visitors head on. However, things can go south if Nathan Lyon wreaks havoc again. But then considering India’s home-record, things look bleak at the moment for the visitors, no matter the victory in the third Test.
