During the match against the Gujarat Titans on Wednesday, the fast bowler of Delhi, Rasikh Salam Dar, was punished for breaching the IPL code of conduct after his aggressive celebration after he took the wicket of Sai Kishore. The Capitals won the match by a narrow margin of four runs against Gujarat in their IPL 20-24 encounter at the Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Dar gave an impressive bowling performance where he gave 44 runs and took 3 wickets in his four overs, including the important wickets of Sai Sudarshan Shahrukh Khan and Sai Kishore.
The statement by the IPL read that Dar committed level 1 offenses under Article 2.5 of the IPL code of conduct. He has already admitted to the offense and accepted the sanction of the match referee for the breaches of level 1 of the code of conduct. The match referee’s decision is final and binding.
According to the IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.5, any language action or gesture that is used by the player directed towards a batsman upon his or her dismissal, which could lead to a potential provoke or aggressive reaction from the dismissal battle, is considered a breach of the code of conduct.

Dar has already admitted to the offense and accepted the sanction of the match referee. Rasikh was given the most important 19th over from the captain, as the visitors needed 37 runs. The right-arm fast bowler did give up 18 runs but ended up picking up the important wicket of Sai Kishore with his final delivery of the over.
Explaining the decision to hand the penultimate over of the run chase to Rasikh captain of Delhi capitals Rishabh Pant, he said that he had bowled very well and trusted him to deliver.
While explaining his decision, Pant said that Nortje was having a hard time. T20 is a funny game. After 14 to 15 overs, the ball was coming on nicely, so we wanted to trust Rasikh. Always trust someone who is bowling well in the game. I think it is about instinct. As a captain, it will come off sometimes, but I am very happy that it worked today.
This victory for the Delhi Capitals took them to the 6th position in the IPL points table, as they have won the 4th match of the season. On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans are in 7th place after suffering their fifth defeat of the IPL season in 2024.
