It was a valiant display from the Indian stopgap skipper, Shikhar Dhawan as he led Punjab Kings to a warring total after the entire side collapsed like a house of cards caught in the eye of a storm. With no support whatsoever, the Punjab Kings managed to battle it till the very end, thanks to a decent show from their bowlers.
However, the numbers were not the finest for Punjab Kings as they have struggled with the bat in the last game. Except for Dhawan, the only one who could even cross 6 runs as an individual was none other than Sam Curran. There was a lot of talks about why Shikhar Dhawan shouldn’t be a part of the side as he somehow stalling the attacking mindset of the Punjab Kings.
Here is how Rahul Tripathi led the charge for the Sunrisers Hyderabad
The Punjab skipper showed it to the world that he is capable of a lot more destruction than people know him for. Rahul Tripathi led the charge for the Sunrisers Hyderabad as they ran roughshod over the Kings but that knock from Dhawan would be one that would always be remembered.
Talking at the post-match presentation, Shikhar Dhawan said, “I hope you were happy with my strike rate as you tweeted something. I can bowl googlies as well!”
Shikhar Dhawan explained how things went between PBKS and SRH
He further added, “As a batting unit, we lost too many wickets back to back and couldn’t put up a big total on the ground and because of that we lost the game. 175-180 would have been a reasonable score. The wicket looked quite good but it was seaming and swinging. Of course it was disappointing (seeing wickets keep falling) but the way we thought the wicket was going to play, it was playing differently. It was seaming and sometimes keeping low. But that’s a learning process for my batting unit and that’s fine.”
