Sourav Ganguly is hailed as one of the finest captains for India and his stint in developing the Indian cricketers at a time when the Indian cricketing circuit was consumed by darkness made him a favourite amongst the Indian cricketers.
Similarly, MS Dhoni took over the ship of the youngsters and steered them to glory in all their majesty, considering the fact that India won three ICC trophies under his reign. It is the combined brilliance of MS Dhoni and Sourav Ganguly that has helped several Indian cricketers to develop themselves in the international circuit.
In an interview, Harmanpreet Kaur, one of India’s striking mavens, opened up on MS Dhoni’s impact on her life. Talking to the Times of India, she said, “MS Dhoni, we know how clever he was on the field. Today, if you watch his (Dhoni’s) old match videos, you can still learn a lot of things from him. I have learned a lot from Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni. I always try to pick up small things that can help me and the team on the field. They have played a big role in my life when we talk about captaincy.”
She further added, “The way they led the team is something I really follow. When Sourav was leading the team, Indian men’s cricket was growing. The way he (Sourav) was changing the atmosphere (in the dressing room) and trusting and backing the players.”
Being the captain of the Indian cricket team, Harmanpreet Kaur has an important assignment coming up with the T20 World Cup all set to unfold at South Africa where the best teams of the world will be battling with each other in hope of claiming the crown as the biennial extravaganza awaits.
