In today’s clash of the Indian Premier League 2024 the Rajasthan Royals are going to take on the Punjab Kings in Mohali on Saturday. Currently, with eight points in five matches, the Rajasthan Royals are at the top of the table, packed with four victories and one defeat. Rajasthan is looking forward to bouncing back to their winning ways after losing the match they played against the Gujarat Titans.
In their four victories of the IPL season 2024, the Rajasthan Royals have completely outplayed their opposition in all departments. Much of the credit goes to the spinner of their franchise, Yuzvendra Chahal, who is currently in second place in the race for Purple Cap, only behind Jasprit Bumrah with 10 wickets.
On Saturday, Chahal could also make history, as he needs only three more wickets to become the first bowler in the history of the IPL to reach 200 dismissals. In the history of Indian Premier League Yuzvendra Chahal who is the Indian international cricketer is the highest wicket-taker with 197 wickets in 150 matches to his name, ahead of Dwayne Bravo who is at second place with 183 wickets and Piyush Chawla with 181 wickets is at the third place.
The Rajasthan Royals also need to thank Riyan Parag, who has been in brilliant form this season. Currently, he is second in the Orange Cap race with 261 runs in five matches, packed with three half centuries. Meanwhile, the captain of Rajasthan, Sanju Samson, is fourth with 246 runs.
Despite their good form, the Royals need to improve in some areas. In PowerPlays of IPL edition 2024 with nine wickets they were also the leading wicket-takers, as Trent Boult led the pace with five wickets. Now, they have gone two matches without a wicket in that phase.
In the last match which Rajasthan Royals played they got defeated by Gujarat Titans by three wickets despite half-centuries from Parag and Samson. In 48 balls, Parag smacked 76 runs, and Samson slammed 68 runs off 38 deliveries. Meanwhile for RR Kuldeep took three wickets whereas Chahal took two.
Spinner, Keshav Mahahraj Speaking ahead of RR’s match vs. PBKS, she said that it is very important for them to win this home game in terms of reaching the next stage of qualification. He further said, I think we’ve done that quite well. There’s still a lot more cricket to go… But also, having said that, to win at home, you also still need to make sure you get the results on the road.”
