Indian captain Rohit Sharma has been on a roll in the ongoing edition of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. He has been leading the team and the batting department by example. Under his captaincy, Team India won a hat-trick of wins, beating Australia, Afghanistan and Pakistan in the group-stage fixtures.
Besides his leadership, he also drew plaudits for his exceptional batting display. It is worth mentioning here that he is the leading run-scorer for the Indian cricket team in the ongoing edition of the World Cup with 217 runs at an impressive batting average of 72 and a strike rate of 142.
He failed to bring the best out of himself in India’s World Cup 2023 opener against Australia in Chennai where he was dismissed for a duck but he ensured to make a stellar rebound in the next two games. He brought up his 31st ODI century against Afghanistan, which is also his seventh century in the ODI World Cup.
Besides that, he also went past Australia’s batting great Ricky Ponting’s overall century tally of 30 centuries in ODIs. India will lock horns with the Bangladesh cricket team tomorrow in Pune and India will stick to the same winning template that worked for them in the first three games.

Irfan Pathan lauds Rohit Sharma ahead of Bangladesh clash
Meanwhile, former India’s bowling all-rounder, Irfan Pathan showered praise on Rohit Sharma for adopting the most aggressive approach among all skippers in the World Cup 2023. Rohit Sharma has showcased his mettle by playing the game with intent and it bore fruit for him so far.
“This is a backfoot punch for four. It is his timing. He is in very good form. The way he is leaving deliveries, it means he is not just coming and playing carelessly in the nets, and just playing the big shots,” Irfan Pathan added.
“He is going with full confidence into the practice but is still respecting the balls that need to be respected, but Rohit Sharma has adopted the most aggressive approach among all captains in this World Cup, which is not easy,” Irfan Pathan said during a discussion on Star Sports.
