Virat Kohli isn’t the solitary cricketer that Gautam Gambhir has a rift with in recent times. Another iconic cricketer, MS Dhoni who was the man who would walk away with a match-winning blow against Sri Lanka in the 2011 finale is another big name that has found itself in the receiving end of Gambhir’s wrath.
However, the kind of support that MS Dhoni has received over the years, there is no second thought about the fact that if Gambhir starts battling both Dhoni and Kohli, that would probably rock his own ship and there would be no looking back.
Here is how things went downtown between MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir
The IPL 2012 finale where MS Dhoni led the Chennai Super Kings was battling tooth and nail against Gautam Gambhir’s KKR and at the end of it all things went downtown for the Yellow Army. However, one cannot ignore the fact that both of them played for India at one point in time and were probably two huge names in their respective camps.
On Wednesday CSK battled the likes of LSG and both MSD and Gautam Gambhir were pitted against each other, this time when MS Dhoni continued to play while Gauti was leading the charge for LSG from the sidelines.
This is what Irfan Pathan had to say about MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir
One member from the 2007 World Cup, the man of the match for the grand finale, Irfan Pathan opened up on an incident that was unknown to many, if you aren’t very closely associated with the game.
Pathan narrated the incident about IPL where Chennai had a two-year ban and MS Dhoni was leading the likes of Pune back then. The narrative would make other fans imagine that what actually went wrong that set two such fierce warriors in the threads of India go up against each other. Pathan said, “Gautam Gambhir played with the ego of MS Dhoni when he was the captain of KKR. He was the only one who succeeded in rattling him for years. MS was rattled to the core by the field setting.”
