It seems that a few Indian stars have started believing that Virat Kohli is more of a whimsical run-man who occasionally rise up to the situation and deliver only when the odds are in his favour. However, what they have forgotten is that the world has been bowing to Virat for a while now and no matter what the world has to say, he has simply kept them locked and loaded in a zone of white noise.
On the cusp of RCB vs LSG, Irfan Pathan made some brave remark about Virat Kohli and RCB. However, it is still a million miles away from what the reality is. There were always questions about the observations particularly about the fact that are people getting too harsh with Virat Kohli because that again allows you to be at the forefront of a lot of limelight.
Here is what Irfan Pathan had to say about Virat Kohli
Pathan told Star Sports, “This year is looking different for RCB as runs are coming out of Virat Kohli’s bat in the first few games. But it is no guarantee that he will continue scoring at the same pace (or for the remainder of the season) and win you every game.”
He further added, “In a tournament like this, other batters in the RCB squad will have to be ready for the challenge and justify their talents and roles. Also, I don’t think Kohli should be opening the batting for RCB.”
Virat Kohli’s numbers at a glance
Kohli has been the mainstay of RCB ever from the inception of the tournament and the franchise too and in 2013 when he came to the fore with the captaincy armband around his biceps, he has never really looked back post that. 2016 was the breakout season where Kohli has managed to smash around as if it was child’s play. From 225 matches for RCB, the former Indian captain has managed to score 6727 runs in the antiquity of the IPL.
