Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) captain Kieron Pollard hit four consecutive sixes in his match-winning cameo against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the 2023 Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The all-rounder scored an unbeaten 37 off just 16 balls as TKR chased down the target of 179 with two overs to spare. Despite some early jitters during the run chase, TKR reached a comfortable position in the run chase riding on a half-century from in-form Nicholas Pooran.
Pollard came to bat during the 12th over and made a cautious start in his characteristic style. He changed gears in the 15th over and took on leg-spinner Izharulhaq Naveed in ruthless fashion. The bowler kept his areas small, giving Pollard enough time to get on the back foot and bowl down the leg side. Three of his sixes crossed the 100-metre mark, while the last ball six of the over was also a massive 95-metre hit. A total of 28 runs were scored in the over and the match turned in favor of TKR.
The veteran player was recently part of the MI New York winning team in the inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC). He missed the playoffs due to injury but recovered in time to lead TKR in the 2023 CPL.
