On Friday, July 21, 2023, former English captain Nasser Hussain slapped his former teammate Mark Butcher on the head in the commentary box on the third day of the fourth Ashes Test match at Old Trafford in Manchester. The incident happened after Mark Butcher criticized Nasser Hussain’s decision to bowl first at Gabba in Brisbane, during his captaincy in the Ashes test in 2002. Mark Butcher scored 51 runs in 40 balls in the opening test of the five-match Ashes series. England lost the test match by 384 runs. They also lost the series 1-4 in Ashes 2002.
Nasser Hussain, who was standing behind Butcher, jokingly slapped him on the head, which made everyone laugh at the commentary box. The former captain Ricky Ponting also laughed too much in the commentary box.
Butcher Said;
“HR, anyone? Bullying at the workplace (chuckles).”
Taylor added;
