New Zealand will open their 2023 World Cup campaign against defending champions England in what will be a repeat of the final of the previous edition of the showpiece event. One of the best ODI games ever played, the final was decided by a boundary count after even the Super Over was tied. It certainly promises to be an interesting encounter and will be played at the world’s largest cricket stadium, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The Kiwis will then travel to Hyderabad to play against the Netherlands, after which they will play two matches each in Chennai and Dharmsala. They will play hosts India and then trans-Tasman rival Australia and these two games could prove crucial in their bid to make it to the 2023 World Cup semi-finals. New Zealand will then play South Africa in Pune before ending their league phase with another two-match series in Bengaluru against Pakistan and Sri Lanka respectively.
Last time the Kiwi team was very close to winning the World Cup and this time they might have to live without captain Kane Williamson due to injury. However, they have some quality spinners and batsmen who can play well in Indian conditions with enough experience. This could once again put them in a good position to go ahead in the 2023 World Cup.
