The countdown for the highly-anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 tournament is over. The cricket fans will go through an intense roller-coaster ride of emotions as teams will battle amongst themselves to make a bid for the title. As many as 10 teams are marking their presence in the competition.
They are none other than Australia, India, New Zealand, South Africa, England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and the Netherlands. Among the participating teams, Australia are the most successful team in the tournament’s history as they have lifted the ODI World Cup a record five times, more than any other team.
On the other hand, Team India won two ODI World Cup trophies whereas the likes of England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka won a World Cup apiece. Meanwhile, West Indies, the two-time ODI World Cup champions were the first team in history to have failed to qualify for the World Cup.
Ravi Shastri names India’s X-factor in Cricket World Cup 2023
India will start their World Cup campaign on October 8 as they will lock horns with the Australian cricket team at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After that, Team India will take on the Pakistan cricket team on October 14 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, former India’s head coach, Ravi Shastri is looking forward to watching India in the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023.
Ravi Shastri picked Suryakumar Yadav as India’s X-factor for the ODI World Cup. “I’ll be watching him (Suryakumar Yadav) closely, very very closely. Because if your top order is firing, so you have 6-7-8 players, you will play him or Shreyas Iyer at this moment.” Shastri added.
“But if all the batters are getting runs then that guy becomes the X factor in a big game, he can win you a game. Because at 6-7-8, the damage he can do with Hardik, they can just take the game away from the opposition in the last 6-7 overs. So that X factor you gotta think of, I can imagine that your batting is struggling but it’s not the case,” Shastri said as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.
