IPL 2023 has been an explosive platform for youngsters and the way they have been grabbing their opportunities has been nothing short of wondrous. As the league stage of the tournament heads to an exciting end, the young guns of India have been delivering in the best possible manner. One of the top teams, Punjab Kings has been heavily inconsistent throughout the tournament as they have produced rip-roaring displays in one game while the others have seen them crashing down in the worst possible scenarios.
Shikhar Dhawan’s consistent shows for the Punjab Kings have seen them getting in decent shape but there is a lot of work that needs to be done as this year’s IPL has been very closely poised with all the top teams rubbing shoulders with each other. For Punjab, it has been a mix and match of both the young guns and the experienced campaigners coming together.
A glance at the excellent numbers of Punjab Kings
Out of all the young guns who have filed a strong case for themselves has been none other than their wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma who keeps on delivering in the best possible manner. The youngster has delivered under pressure and will probably be one of the upcoming stars of India if he can keep on delivering at the same scale.

Former Indian coach, Ravi Shastri has pointed out that if things go right, Jitesh Sharma is indeed going to be the pearl of Indian batting very shortly and it is just a matter of ticks before the young wicket-keeper makes his way to the team. It is going to be everything but easy for young Jitesh, particularly with the big moniker of Rishabh Pant in line for a return.
Here is what Ravi Shastri had to say about Jitesh Sharma
Talking to ESPNCricinfo, Shastri said, “He’s the find of the IPL. Rishabh Pant is unfortunately not available but this guy can enter the Indian team anytime. Lower down the order, he’s a todu (fantastic) player. His keeping is great, and he is fearless. You’re talking about Shikhar, he missed 2-3 games with injury, but his intent is amazing. He scored 20-25, but the intent with which he plays is amazing. And then ofcourse, they have (Liam) Livingstone and (Sam) Curran.”
