Virat Kohli was the star of the day as he smashed a phenomenal 186 to help India along their pursuit of levelling the Australian scores and he led the charge from the very front as the hosts managed to extend their lead to a handsome number before New Zealand would go onto beat Sri Lanka to assure India of a place in the WTC final.
Anushka Sharma posted that Virat batted throughout the day with sickness and it was an inspiring note for her and many other fellow Indian cricket fans. Anushka’s story read, “Playing through sickness with his composure. Inspiring me always.” Albeit not being clear about what exactly happened, Rohit Sharma cleared the web around Virat Kohli’s sickness note.
When Axar Patel was asked at the end of India’s innings about Kohli’s sickness, the all-rounder replied, “I don’t know. The way he was running between the wickets, it didn’t look like he was sick. In such hot weather, he forged a such a great partnership and ran so well. It was fun batting with him.”
Rohit, on the contrary, added, “I don’t think he is sick; he was just coughing a little bit, but I don’t think it’s that bad health wise.” This statement from the Indian captain would ideally end all the speculations and the rumours that were flying high from Anushka Sharma’s post.
Rohit Sharma also talked about Virat’s Test form, adding, “Regarding Virat, I don’t think there was any monkey on his back. When you’re around a player like that, when you see how they go about their business, you don’t feel that kind of thing going in his head or he’s thinking about anything. He is just thinking about the moment. He wants to put up big performance for the team which he has done in the past so many years, and wants to do that everytime he gets the opportunity to do it for India. I don’t think he is sick; he was just coughing a little bit, but I don’t think it’s that bad health wise.”
