The captain of Rajasthan Royals, Sanju Samson, has revealed that Yashasvi Jaiswal loves to bat in the nets so much that he literally has to be pulled out of it. Jaiswal is one of the most exciting young batters of team India who holds the record for scoring the fastest fifty in the Indian Premier League, which is in 13 balls.
Samson, who will return to captain the IPL franchise RR in the IPL season 2024, has revealed that Jaiswal’s batting is so damaging to the net bowlers that it actually ended up sending them to the hospital. when asked to name the Player who spends the longest time in the nets, Samson said, “That has to be Jaiswal.” He also noted that Jaiswal has had to be pulled out of the nets for the last 3-4 years.
Samson also revealed, “In our practice camp, We have four Sardar ji’s, and they are called Cut, Pull, Flick, and Drive. During practice, The guy called ‘Cut’ only throws balls; the guy called Pull Only Bowls pulls to practice, and this goes the same for the other guys. Because of Jaiswal last season, All four of them dislocated their shoulders. And RR has to ensure the treatment.”
The hopes of RR for a trophy finish ride are on the shoulders of young Player Jaiswal. The 22-year-old, who made his debut for team India last August, has created ripples in international cricket in such a short time and is coming into the IPL on the high of an uber-successful Test series against England. Jaiswal scored over 700 runs in the series against England and also became only the second-ever Indian batter after the legendary Sunil Gavaskar to scale such a milestone. With two double centuries and three half centuries, Jaiswal was fittingly named the Player of the Series.
He has already scored more than 500 runs for the Indian cricket team from 17 matches, including four half-centuries and a century. Last year, in IPL season 2023, Jaiswal had finished fifth, behind Shubman Gill, Faf du Plessis, Devon Conway and Virat Kohli in the list of leading scorers with 625 runs from 14 games but boasted the best strike rate among the top five.
