India had an alarming day out in the office and will need a pumped up shift from their bowlers as they will try and change the dynamics of the ongoing Test, particularly with Usman Khawaja still in the center and Cameron Green being in explosive form, India will try to showcase their flair for the forthcoming days that would decide the fate of the Indian cricket team in the WTC finale.
Sanjay Manjrekar was not happy about how things went on against Australia on the opening day of the fixture and he advised the Indian cricketers to be alert on day 2 if they have any intentions of trying to go forth and throw a spanner in the visitors’ plans of walking away with the shared spoils.
Manjrekar said, “It’s a great setting when people are there, every seat was taken. World Test Championship takes for India, on the verge of getting there. I think India will get there. I don’t think Sri Lanka are capable of upsetting New Zealand.”
He further added, “So I believe, India are already in the final. But, you still have to actually, you know, officially get there. So that tension was there. Plus the series hanging the way it has, Australia making that brilliant comeback in Indore and plus a figure like Narendra Modi at the ground. That buzz was there. Every box was ticked before the start of this Test.”
Talking about what how Sri Lanka has delivered in their opening Test, thanks to a ride on the shoulders of Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Mendis, Angelo Matthews, Dinesh Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva, they are placed well with a total of 305 for the loss of 6 at the end of Day one. Hence, New Zealand will need to put up a show if this prophecy of Manjrekar is to come true.
