India’s star all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja has been away from the international arcade since Asia Cup where he picked up a knee-injury against Hong Kong. Despite BCCI teasing his return to the international arcade, no clarity has so far been provided. Since copping the injury, he has been working at the NCA to recover from his injury and also complete his rehab and now it finally feels that he is all set to return to cricketing arcade in the India colours.
Jadeja was expected to be named in the 17-member squad for the first two Tests against Australia as reported by the Hindustan Times Cricket. However, BCCI has issued a statement that his inclusion is subjective to fitness tests.
In order to prove his recovery, Ravindra Jadeja is all set to join Saurashtra for their last group stage Ranji Trophy fixture in the ongoing edition against Tamil Nadu at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday as confirmed by their coach, Niraj Odedra with The Hindu Sportstar reporting the same.
Odedra said, “In fact, I had sent Jaddu a WhatsApp text saying that the boys are really excited to have him back. He immediately wrote back saying he is looking forward to catching up with the team. It’s been a while since he played Ranji Trophy for Saurashtra. A player of that calibre joining the team is a huge morale boost as well. His training and workload will be as per the National Cricket Academy (NCA) protocols.”
It will be quite a while since Jadeja played his last Ranji fixture and it came in November 2018. Saurashtra currently aces Elite Group B table but will be heading to this contest on the back of a defeat by a staggering 150 runs at the hands of Andhra Pradesh.
