In the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League, numerous young players have stood out, and Yashasvi Jaiswal is among the most notable. Jaiswal, who has scored 442 runs in ten matches, is currently the second-highest run-scorer of the season, and his strike rate of 158.42 is particularly remarkable for the Rajasthan Royals.
Some fans are already urging the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to include Jaiswal in the Indian team for the shortest format of the game. On the other hand, Prithvi Shaw, another young Indian player, is rapidly fading away after a series of poor performances this season.

Shaw’s results are in stark contrast to Jaiswal’s; the right-handed batsman has only scored 40 runs in six matches and was eventually released by the Delhi Capitals. Furthermore, the team’s head coach, Ricky Ponting, launched a scathing attack on the young opener, urging him to improve his performance.
Although former Australia bowler Brett Lee praised Yashasvi Jaiswal and predicted that the Rajasthan Royals youngster would play for India for “many years,” Scott Styris referred to Prithvi Shaw when comparing the circumstances surrounding both players.
Here is what Scott Styris had to say about young Jaiswal and Shaw
Before the Rajasthan Royals’ match against the Gujarat Titans on Friday night, Brett Lee praised Yashasvi Jaiswal’s impressive temperament, brilliant strike rate, and the right attitude, saying that the youngster will play for India for many years.

“I’m really impressed by his (Yashasvi Jaiswal) temperament, his strike rate is absolutely brilliant. He’s got the right attitude. He’s going to play for India for many, many years,” Lee told JioCinema prior of the RR’s game against the Gujarat Titans on Friday night.
When the anchor mentioned Prithvi Shaw during the discussion, Styris commented that Shaw is far off the pace compared to the competition of young players. Styris suggested that Shaw needs to work on his game, get fit, and make himself indispensable by going back to domestic cricket and the IPL.
Scott Styris was absolutely livid when Prithvi Shaw’s name was taken. He made it crystal clear that until the Delhi opener fixes his ways and starts focusing on cricket, the future of the youngster is highly in doubt. In fact, the Kiwi all-rounder is not the only one to point out the fallacies of Prithvi.
The 2023 season has not been kind to the Delhi Capitals, as they have managed to win just three out of their nine games so far. This poor performance places the Capitals at the bottom of the league table. However, a victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday could help them climb up to the eighth position.
