Shubman Gill has been one of the biggest revelations for India of late and whatever he has done or wherever his light has touched, it has turned into gold. In the opening contest of the IPL, it was he Indian opener who led the charge for the Gujarat Titans, smashing around a well-constructed 63 from just 36 balls.
His swashbuckling knock against the Super Kings comprised six fours and three sixes, that saw him inflicting pain and misery on the Chennai bowlers till the 15th over. This was simply an extension of his rollicking touch since IPL 2022 where he played a crucial role at the top to spearhead the charge for the Titans.
Here is what Parthiv Patel had to say about Shubman Gill
Speaking on Jio Cinema, former Indian wicket-keeper, Parthiv Patel made a huge remark for the Gujarat Titans opener, stating, “The way the Gujarat Titans started their chase. We saw Wriddhiman Saha get the license to use the first six overs to his advantage as much as he could. On this wicket, the target was below par, so a strong start is essential.”
He further added, “I think the Gujarat Titans got that and kept the momentum. Shubman Gill did what we know Shubman Gill can do and carried over his international form into the IPL. We may get to see a 600-run season from Shubman Gill”, he further added, also making a huge prediction.”
This is how GT took the game away from CSK
Gill played an all-important partnership with Wriddhimaan Saha as the duo got off to a flyer and then once the wickets started falling at regular intervals, particularly with Kane Williamsom injured and Sai Sudarshan coming on as an Impact Player, Gill had his task cut out and he came forth in blasting colours, taking the fight right to the Chennai bowlers.
On a surface that had no demons for the bowlers whatsoever, it was Gill’s early blitz followed by Rashid Khan’s madness that saw Chennai taking another downturn as their woes knew no ends.
