The Great of Pakistan women cricket team Bismah Maroof took retirement from international cricket

Former captain of Pakistan women cricket team Bismah maroof took retirement from International Cricket on Thursday after playing 276 games in 18 years of her career.

On Thursday in a statement the 32 year old cricket player Bismah Said that she has decided to retire from the game she loves the most. It has been an amazing journey which is filled with challenges, victories and a number of unforgettable memories.

Maroof who is an all rounder and left handed batsman has scored 6262 runs including 33 half centuries and 3 ODI scores in the 90s. She is a right arm bowler and has taken 80 wickets.

When she was 15 years old she made her debut for Pakistan in the year 2006 in a one day international match against the Indian women cricket team and after 3 years she made debut in a T20 International match against Ireland. 

Maroof took a break in the year 2021 to give birth to her first child and said that she was grateful for a parental policy that extended her career.

Bismah said that the support she received from Pakistan cricket board has been invaluable particularly in implementing the first ever parental policy for her which enabled her to represent her country at the highest level while being a mother. 

Maroof had led Pakistan cricket team in 96 International matches including her 4th women’s World Cup in 2022 in New Zealand. 

She also played in the all eight women’s T20 world cup and has led her team in the last 2 which will be held in 2020 and 2023. 

She was also a member of the Pakistan squad which won gold medal two times at the Asian games in 2010 and 2014. 

Last year when she gave up the captaincy. The President of Pakistan cricket board Najam Sethi said that Bismah has been an inspiration for millions of girls and has been a catalyst for a positive change. With her immense dedication and hard work she has shown that women can continue to follow their passion and dreams.

Even the head of women cricket in PCB Tania Mallik praised maroof on Thursday. Mallick said that we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Maroof for her commitment and amazing services to the team and the country. May her journey ahead be as  fulfilling as her cricketing career has been.
