The off-spinner of Indian Cricket Team Ravichandran Ashwin reclaimed the top spot in the ICC test bowling rankings after finishing within a nine-wicket match haul in his 100th Test Match. Ashwin took four wickets while giving 51 runs and five wickets while giving 77 runs in the fifth and final test match of the five-match test series against England at Dharamshala, which helped team India gain a massive victory by an innings and 64 runs over their opponents. This victory also means that India defeated England’s bazballers by 4-1.
Ashwin displaced his teammate Jasprit Bumrah and for the 6th time, he is at the top of the rankings. In 2015, he, for the first time, became the number 1 test bowler. Ashwin also became the highest wicket-taker in the five-match series, with 26 wickets.
On the other side, player of the match award winner Kuldeep Yadav became the fastest bowler in India in terms of balls bowled to take 50 test wickets. He has also gone 15 places up to attain a career-best 16th position after finishing with seven wickets in the match.
Apart from them, the captain of the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma, goes up five places, and Shubman Gill goes up 11 places to a career-best 20th ranking. Both of these players have made notable gains, whereas the player of the series award winner, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has moved up to places to go on number 8 after smashing a half-century.
Jaiswal aggregated 740 reading points after he had played 9 test matches. Besides Jaiswal, only two batters have scored more in as many test matches: Don Bradman from Australia, who scored 752 points, and Mike Hussey from Australia, who scored 741 points.
The players of the England cricket team, Zak Crawley and Johnny Bairstow, have also moved up a slot each in the batting rankings, while spinner Shoaib Bashir has made progress of 11 places to the 71st position.
Australia’s cricket team completed a series with a 2-0 victory over New Zealand in Christchurch, taking second place behind India on the WTC table. The match-winning knock of Alex Carey of 98 not out helped him go up from 50th to 38th position.
Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood also continued his Amazing form to finish with six wickets in the match, including a 5-fer to make it 35 at 15.31 for the season and moved to second position just behind Ashwin.
