India’s talented batsman Shreyas Iyer came under fire for his mode of dismissal in the previous game against the England cricket team in Pune. The right-handed batter fell prey to the short ball tactic and was dismissed in a disappointing manner. He was so frustrated with himself with the way he played the unnecessary shot.
However, he ensured to let his bat do all the talking against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. When he stepped out to bat at No.4, he scored runs at a rate of knots and mounted immense pressure on the Sri Lankan bowlers by hammering sixes and fours like a hot knife through butter.
Had it not been for his blazing knock, then India wouldn’t have crossed the 350-run mark in their allotted quota of 50 overs. Shreyas Iyer scored a scintillating 82 off 56 balls in which he struck as many as 3 fours and 6 hits over the fence at an impressive batting strike rate of 146.43.
Shreyas Iyer hammers the longest six of the ongoing World Cup tournament
Glenn Maxwell was on top of the list as he had hit the longest six of 104 meters. However, Shreyas Iyer broke his record by launching a 106-meter six off Dushan Hemantha’s bowling. The video clip of Shreyas Iyer thumping a humongous six has gone viral on social media.
