Rohit Sharma, captain of India, revealed that he was oblivious of cries of "Jai Shri Ram"
directed towards Mohammed Shami during the fourth and final Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
On Monday, March 13, the fourth Test of the series finished in a tie as both teams' bowlers labored on a pitch that did not provide much help.
India qualified for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) after winning the first two Tests and Sri Lanka losing the Christchurch Test to New Zealand.
In a video that went popular on social media during the Ahmedabad Test, the fans can be heard chanting "Jai Shri Ram" at Shami.
In response to a question on the subject, Rohit stated during the post-game news conference:
I'm not aware of any Jai Shri Ram chants for Shami. It was the first time I heard it. I'm not sure what occurred there.
Shami was a standout player for India in their 2-1 victory against Australia. In three matches, he took nine wickets at an average of 28.22, often contributing crucial breakthroughs.
