Jamie Carragher, a former Liverpool defender, has lavished praise on teenage midfielder Stefan Bajcetic for his performance on February 13 against Everton.
In the Merseyside derby in the Premier League on Monday at Anfield, the Reds defeated the Toffees 2-0.
Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo's goals gave the home team its much-needed victory.
The 18-year-old Bajcetic began the match in the midfield alongside Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
Because the Merseyside derby is so physically intense, Carragher admitted he wasn't sure whether his choice was the best one.
He acknowledged that the Spaniard had refuted his claims, though. The Liverpool icon stated the following while providing commentary on the match on Sky Sports:
To be quite honest, before the game, I wanted Fabinho and Henderson back in the lineup
and wasn't sure how the young man would handle the aggression. This young man has been outstanding over the first half.
