With his efforts in Asia, Australian seasoned spinner Nathan Lyon has maintained his position as one of the finest in the world.

With 129 Test wickets, the off-spinner has surpassed his countryman Shane Warne to hold the record for foreign bowlers in Asia.

On the opening day of the third Test match between India and New South Wales in Indore, the off-spinner from New South Wales dismissed Ravindra Jadeja to reach the milestone.

When it comes to playing in Asia, Lyon, who got a wicket on his debut in Sri Lanka, has the most in India with 45.

His 12-scarce total in Pakistan is the lowest, although the 35-year-old has only played three Tests there so yet.

Now, Warne (127), Daniel Vettori (98), Dale Steyn (92), James Anderson (82), and Courtney Walsh are all eclipsed by Lyon's record (77).

Day one of the Indore Test saw Australia lose the toss, but they made progress against India after an hour of play when they were five down for 45.

Matthew Kuhnemann kicked off the parade by firing Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma.
