WPL 2023: Orange cap and Purple cap standings following the match between UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants

On March 5, the Gujarat Giants (GG) and the UP Warriorz played in the third game of the inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

The Alyssa Healy-led squad managed to win the game in the last seconds, handing GG its second straight defeat.

Beth Mooney, the normal skipper of the Giants, was ruled out of the game after limping off while batting in the opening game on Saturday.

In the Australian's absence, vice-captain Sneh Rana assumed the reins and made the decision to bat first after winning the toss.

GG's powerplay was tepid, but it was a vast improvement from the one they used against MI in their opening game.

The spin bowling duo of Sophie Ecclestone and Deepti Sharma for the UP Warriorz struck in each of their individual opening overs, leaving the opponents at 45-2 after six overs.

Around the midway point of their innings, they were down 67-3, and things were still going slowly for them.

The No. 1 batter in the world, Tahlia McGrath, also participated, but she used the ball to get rid of Sushma Verma.
