The Men in Blue are currently 1-2 in the series, having lost the first two games but made a stunning comeback in the third with a seven-wicket win. The visiting team achieved the target of 160 runs with 2.1 overs to spare.
India’s vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav starred with the bat, he made 83 runs in 44 balls, which included four sixes and 10 fours. Tilak Verma also continued his form, scoring an unbeaten 49 runs in 37 balls, while captain Hardik Pandya made 20 runs in 15 balls. However, Shubman Gill continued his bad performance with the bat and was dismissed for only six runs. It was his third single-digit score in the T20I series, he scored 3 runs and 7 runs in the first two matches.
The chase got underway when Kuldeep Yadav helped the Men in Blue restrict West Indies to 159/5 in the allotted 20 overs. The wrist-spinner finished with sensational figures of 3/28. After the third T20I, Pandya credited Suryakumar and Tilak for their heroics with the bat. He said:
“They (SKY and Tilak) play together and spend time together, good to have someone like SKY in the team and when he takes responsibility it sends a message to the others.”
Hardik Pandya added:
“Very important (to win). We spoke as a group that these three games will be exciting. Two losses or two wins does not change the long-term plans. We have to show we are ready when it comes to such (must-win) games.”
