Former India’s bowling all-rounder Irfan Pathan reserves the highest respect for Indian captain Rohit Sharma for the way he adjusted himself and played according to the situation against England in Lucknow. When the England bowlers constantly mounted pressure on the Indians, the top-order batters fell prey in the powerplay overs.
Despite the collapse in the top order, Rohit Sharma stitched a 91-run partnership with KL Rahul, which put the Indian cricket team in a good zone. However, after KL Rahul departed for 39, Rohit Sharma tried his maximum best to score runs but ended up scoring 87 as fell prey to Adil Rashid’s delivery.
Rohit Sharma drew plaudits from every nook and corner of the cricket fraternity for making a telling impact with his bat on one of the toughest batting conditions. The right-handed batsman assessed the conditions and superbly went about his business. It helped India post 229/9 in the full quota of 50 overs.

Rohit Sharma constructed his innings with the help of 10 fours and 3 hits over the fence. While Gambhir was not happy with Rohit Sharma’s dismissal for attempting the wrong shot at the wrong time, Irfan Pathan heaped praise on Rohit Sharma, while talking to the broadcaster, Star Sports.
“Rohit Sharma played a captain’s knock. He was aggressive in the first few overs but adjusted according to the situation and demand of the game,” Irfan Pathan said on Star Sports. In reply to India’s target, England were bowled out for 129 as India won the match by a huge margin of 100 runs. Rohit Sharma was named the Player of the Match for his significant knock.
