Dhoni’s contingent has moved up the pecking order of the IPL, clinching the fifth spot after two consecutive wins where they managed to get the better of Lucknow Super Giants and the Mumbai Indians. More importantly, the wins were preceded by the defeat at the hands of the Gujarat Titans who had a successful start to their title defence.
Sunil Gavaskar, another Indian great, had a crucial message for the Indian icon and wanted him to carry it out at least for the day.
The erstwhile Indian skipper, Sunil Gavaskar, talking to Star Sports, said, “I am hoping MS Dhoni promotes himself higher in the batting order. So that he gets to play more than two or three overs in the games. He can make that difference for CSK with his batting because he is capable of scoring big runs.”

The Ranchi paragon featured in his first IPL match as the skipper of Chennai Super Kings against Punjab Kings at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in 2008.
