Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has named the team that will cause all sorts of trouble to the opposition teams if they reach the final 4 of the ICC ODI World Cup. According to the cricket expert, Australia could dominate the knockouts of the mega event. He reckons that Australia are a well-balanced team with all their bases covered that might give their best shot at making a bid for the sixth title.
Pat Cummins will be leading the team from the vanguard and it remains to be seen how they will approach the World Cup this time around. The Men in Yellow have won the ODI World Cup on five occasions, more than any other team in the ODI World Cup’s history. Australia won the title in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015.
If Australia reach the final 4, they will be extremely dangerous: Aakash Chopra
Australia’s last Cricket World Cup glory came in 2015 when they defeated New Zealand in the final under Michael Clarke’s captaincy to clinch the major honour. Meanwhile, Aakash Chopra is of the notion that Australia will be extremely dangerous if they make it to the final four of the tournament. They are a team that understands the nuances of the game and are capable of getting the better of the opponent, especially in clutch moments.
“Aussies are one of the favourites to reach the final 4, irrespective of the conditions, I reckon Steve Smith, David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell will combine to take the Aussies to the final 4. If this team reaches the final 4, they will be extremely dangerous in the knockouts,” the cricket expert said on his YouTube channel.
Australia will begin their World Cup campaign on October 8 as they will play against Team India at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It remains to be seen which team will get the better of the other in the highly-anticipated clash. Recently, India defeated Australia by 2-1 in the three-match ODI series at home.
