The captain of Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant, led his team to their second straight victory in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League T20 on Wednesday in Ahmedabad. While Jason had a target of 90 runs, the Delhi Capitals scored 94 runs at the loss of 4 wickets in 8.5 overs as both Pant and Sumit Kumar remained unbeaten at 16 and 9 runs, respectively. Meanwhile, the top scorer in the Delhi capital, Jake Fraser-McGurk, scored 20 runs in 10 balls.
Initially, Mukesh Kumar destroyed the Gujarat Titans as he took three wickets while giving 14 runs as GT got wrapped up for 89 runs in 17.3 overs. Both Ishant Sharma and Tristan Stubbs took two wickets each for their team.
After the poor start to the ongoing season of IPL, the Delhi Capitals are back in the race of players off and are sixth in the standings with six in seven games. While speaking in the post-match press conference, the bowling coach of the Delhi Capitals, James Hope, praised captain Rishabh Pant and also revealed how the team coped in his absence last year.
James said that he is quite good. Last year, we tried very hard to cover that gap, but it was quite difficult to cover a world-class wicketkeeper, if not the best wicketkeeper and batsman in the world. Now he is back to the team, and you can see every time about his game he is keeping, and his captaincy is becoming very sharp. Even his batting is quite good from the start of the tournament.
Hope also gave a reminder to the selectors of the Indian Cricket Team ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. After more than a year of cricket because of the horrible accident, Hope made his comeback in the IPL season 2024.
Hopes said that Pant is in pretty good form in the back half of the tournament, and he is leading really well at the moment.
Rishabh is currently the highest run scorer for the Delhi Capitals with 210 runs in seven matches, which consist of two half centuries. Pant is hoping to add more runs to his tally and push himself for selection in the T20 World Cup squad for India.
While speaking after the victory against the Gujarat Titans, one side said that there are a lot of things to be happy about. We talked about the champion throughout the process, and our team clearly showed that today we can play like champions, and I am really very happy to see that.
