Indian cricket has an enriching domestic circuit that sees the players engaged in action almost throughout the year. In a new revelation, BCCI announced the latest schedule for the upcoming season’s domestic tournaments through the year.
India’s domestic cricket season will be kickstarting with the Duleep Trophy in June which will be followed by the mega Ranji Trophy slated to be played between January and March next year as per the latest schedule announced by the apex cricket body of India.
A glance at the numbers that would be dictating the domestic circuit
In a blockbuster announcement, BCCI has slated 1846 matches to be played between the last week of June 2023 and March 2024 which is a downright staggering number for all the young cricketers hoping to make the most of the latest domestic season for India.
The first tournament of the year will be Duleep Trophy which will be played from June 28th to July 16th in 2023. It will be followed suit by the Deodhar Trophy which will be played between July 24th, 2023 to August 3rd, 2023.
A deeper look into the tournaments which are to be played between 2023 and 2024
Both these tournaments would be spanning across six zones that include the likes of Central, South, North, East, West and North-East. These two tournaments will be followed suit by the beginning of the Irani Cup that will pit Saurashtra against the Rest of the Indian sides which will be starting from October 1st.
The aforementioned fray will be followed by the actual blockbusters that have been rocking the shores of Indian cricket for a while namely the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy. The SMAT will be kickstarting from October 16th and will continue till November 6th while the Vijay Hazare Trophy will be starting from November 23rd to December 15th.
The most iconic domestic tournament and also an age-old tradition of keeping cricket in India at the highest level, the Ranji Trophy will be starting on January 5th, 2024 and will be continuing till March 14th, 2024. The women’s cricket tournament will be commencing with the Senior Women’s Trophy which will be played from October 19th to November 9th.
