Within just 24 hours of the Women’s Premier League auction unfurling at the Jio Convention Centre in Mumbai, BCCI announced the schedule for the maiden edition of the WPL. It is going to be a battle of five teams going head on against each other namely Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, Gujarat Giants and the Mumbai Indians.
The teams have collectively signed 87 players until now out of which there were 30 overseas players at the WPL auction but there was a massive spike in the interest for the players from the Indian cricket team as most of them bagged a pretty decent price.
As per the media release shared by the BCCI, the WPL will have 20 games in the league stages and two play-off matches which will played over a span of 23 days. The historic curtain-raiser of the Women’s Premier League will be kickstarting with a battle between the Mumbai Indians and the Gujarat Giants.
