Shikhar Dhawan has become a household in Indian cricket and somehow the fans have been pretty enraged about the fact that he has not been given as many chances as he should have been. Things seemed pretty out of order for Dhawan but yesterday he showed why he is such an asset to the Indian cricket team if he can be given another chance.
Things went downhill for Dhawan in the Indian colours as the fans said that he is now being victimised of politics and is almost deliberately kept on the sidelines. Former Indian spinner, Harbhajan Singh, was absolutely livid with the kind of treatment that was received by the Indian opener. More importantly, he drew a sharp contrast with the fact that there were many chances that were being given to other players but somehow Shikhar Dhawan was neglected.

Harbhajan Singh said, “Shikhar has also led the Indian side in many tours but suddenly we saw that after the role of Shikhar was over he was sidelined as if he is not needed anymore. I felt bad on seeing this because the treatment for everyone should be the same. He is a big player and has given too much to Indian cricket.”

He further added, “You can not treat him like this. He played a good knock of 86 in 56 balls. I will not name anyone here. For instance, let’s take Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli, or KL Rahul who are big names. You gave them plenty of chances but on the other hand, there is no place for Shikhar Dhawan in the team now. He has always contributed for the team. Then why he is not getting a chance in the Indian team? Talking about fitness, he is as fit as Virat Kohli.” Shikhar Dhawan has been a crucial part of the Indian team even a year back but now that they have new options, the future seems pretty bleak for the stopgap Indian skipper on occasions.
