The captain of Lucknow SuperGiants, KL Rahul, celebrated his 32nd birthday on Thursday. Because of his amazing performance, Rahul was recruited by the IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the 2013 season of the tournament at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. In 2013, the batsman of the Indian Cricket Team made his debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore against former Champions Kolkata Knight Riders.
For Rahul, who is 20 years old, playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore was a dream come true. KL fulfilled his dream by signing the deal with Bengaluru before the start of the 2013 season of the Indian Premier League. Rahul had two sessions with the team in the cash-rich league. While remembering his early days at the franchise, Rahul opened up about the interaction between him and the former captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Virat Kohli.
In a conversation with spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on his YouTube channel, KL Rahul revealed the reaction of Virat Kohli after the Karnataka batsman signed his first IPL deal with Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Rahul said Virat was present there at ITC Gardenia along with coach Ray Jennings and other supporting staff. All Virat said was, Would you want to sign this contract and play for RCB? At that time, I was like, Are you kidding me? Because this was always my dream. To this Virat said I am just kidding it is not an option, you have to sign this contract. In the end, I signed the contract, and Virat got really happy, as he said that it is going to be crazy, and you were going to enjoy a lot in the next couple of months.
KL Rahul was added to the roster of Royal Challengers Bengaluru after an amazing 2013 Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament. However, Rahul and RCB parted ways after a season because the batsman of team India signed for Sunrisers Hyderabad at the price of Rs. 1 crore. Rahul scored only 20 runs in the 2013 season of the IPL and 166 runs in the 2014 season. In the same year, he made his test debut for Team India.
For the 2016 season, Rahul returned to RCB, and this time he accumulated 397 runs in 14 matches. The former star of RCB was sold to the Punjab Kings for a price of Rs 11 crore. After this, the 2020 season Orange Cap winner of the IPL was bought by the Lucknow Supergiants for the season 2022 as the captain.
