Sompal Kami Gets His Shoe Signed By Virat Kohli After IND vs NEP Asia Cup 2023 Clash

Nepal fast bowler Sompal Kami spoke to Team India’s star batsman Virat Kohli after the Asia Cup 2023 match between the two sides at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Monday. Kami shared an Instagram post after the game, proudly showing off the shoe on which Kohli had given his autograph. The 27-year-old also mentioned that the former India captain is much more than just a cricketer.

Captioning the post, Sompal Kami wrote:

“Virat Kohli is not just a cricketer, he’s an emotion.”

Notably, Virat Kohli did not get a chance to bat against Nepal as the Men in Blue chased down the revised target of 145 in 23 overs and won by 10 wickets (DLS method). However, he failed to perform well for the team in the opening match of the Asia Cup against Pakistan on Saturday and was dismissed by Shaheen Afridi after scoring four runs.

India Seal Super Four Spot After Convincing Win Over Nepal In Asia Cup 2023

The encounter against Nepal was extremely important for Rohit Sharma & Co. considering that the winner would advance to the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup. India’s game against Pakistan was washed out after the first innings, resulting in one point each for both teams. India won the toss and decided to field first. Asif Sheikh was the top run-scorer for Nepal with an innings of 58 runs.

Sompal Kami also made a valuable contribution by scoring 48 runs at the last end. Nepal’s team was bowled out for 230, with Mohammad Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja taking three wickets each. However, the target was later revised to 145 as per the DLS method after the break due to rain. Openers Rohit Sharma (74*) and Shubman Gill (67*) performed brilliantly with the bat, which helped the team secure a place in the Super Four.

India will face arch-rival Pakistan in the Super Four match of Asia Cup 2023 at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.
