Mumbai Indians were handed over their second defeat in a row after a three-match unbeaten streak, first against the Punjab Kings and then the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. There has been a consistent slump in their batting unit and one man who has actually started showing a glimpse of his former self, Rohit Sharma is somehow getting those starts but has been down and out for a while now from the usual reckoning self that we know him for.

He has been announced as part of the Indian squad that will be in action against the Australian cricket team at the Oval for the WTC final. One of the major elements that would remain in play for the Indian skipper is how he manages his workload from hereon as he will also have to make himself available for the WTC finale.

A glance at Rohit Sharma’s numbers in IPL 2023

The Mumbai Indians under his captaincy have struggled in the last couple of seasons and hope to stage a turnaround of things after another couple of defeats that has now left them stranded with 3 wins from 7 games. Rohit Sharma has scored 181 runs from the first 7 matches and a player of his stature is expected to pile up at least 250 or more. However, considering the fact that he failed to gauge the skies, former Indian captain, Sunil Gavaskar issued a warning for Rohit Sharma, encompassing a lot of factors in his mind.

Gavaskar said, “I would like to see some change in the batting order for Mumbai Indians. Honestly, I would also say that Rohit should maybe also take a break for the time being, and keep himself fit for the World Test Championship final. He can come back again for the last few matches, but right now, he should take a little bit of a breather himself.”

This is what Sunny G had to say about the good news that Rohit Sharma’s fans can smile about

Sunny G further added that Rohit Sharma looks slightly consumed with a few thoughts of his own that would really intensify the frown on the faces of the Mumbai Indians faces but he also clarified that maybe he is just occupied with the thoughts of the WTC finale.
