“You are a harsh man”, Matthew Hayden calls Sunny Gavaskar out for his rude words against Shubman

“You are a harsh man”, Matthew Hayden calls Sunny Gavaskar out for his rude words against Shubman-compressed

India had a rare false start to their third Test after a couple of dominating outings in the series as their batters stuttered, stumbled and eventually went down without a fight. Australia was right on top of the game at the end of day’s play as they managed to secure a 47 run lead with just 4 wickets lost.

Shubman Gill, who got a start after diabolical displays from KL Rahul, couldn’t get things going in his way as he sank with the sinking Indian ship, falling to Matthew Kuhnemann, the man who bagged a fifer to leave the Indians reeling in agony.

Sunil Gavaskar was livid with what Shubman Gill did in the center and did not mince his words, making sure that the world knew what they were doing. When Gill asked for the physio to walk out in the center after picking an injury, Gavaskar flipped.

He said, “We’re seeing a little bit of repair work for Shubman Gill. He had dived to make his crease but I tell you what. This could have waited. This could have waited till the end of the over. There is a fast bowler who is bowling – he has bowled 4 deliveires; it’s hot – and you’ve given him a breather. Yes, you are hurt but wait for 2 more deliveries. Wait for the over to finish and get treated. You’re at the non-striker’s end, you’re not at the striker’s end. Simple things can make a difference.”

Matthew Hayden replied to this, adding, “You’re a harsh man, Sunny. That’s a real stinger. Yes, it is but listen you are playing for your country. Just 2 more deliveries. You’re at the non-striker’s. I can understand if you’re taking strike and you’ve got that discomfort. And he’s done that after 2 deliveries.”
